Most factory strike plates use tiny 3/4" screws that only bite into soft door jamb wood. One strong kick can split the jamb—even with the deadbolt engaged.
I replace factory screws with 3-inch structural screws that penetrate through the jamb and anchor into the wall stud (2x4 framing).
Your strike plate can now withstand 800+ lbs of force—compared to 200 lbs with standard screws. Recommended by Boulder County Sheriff’s Office and security experts nationwide as one of the most cost-effective ways to prevent break-ins.
